Mary Cosgrove is a lecturer in Tax and Accountancy in the Department of Accountancy & Finance at NUI Galway. On 23 September 2016 she attended a meeting of the United Nation's Expert Group on Illicit Financial Flows at the invitation of the United Nations Financing for Development Office, in conjunction with the Macroeconomic Policy Division of the United Nations  Economic Commission for Africa.

In addition, she presented a paper on Tax Spillover Analysis at a conference on Human Rights and Tax - organised by the Center for Human Rights and Global Justice which is based in New York University (NYU).
